This vegetable is easily available in hilly states like Uttarakhand, Himachal. It is also known as Linguda, Lungadu or Lingaad and Kasrod in the local language. This vegetable is wonderful in taste and low in calories, fat and cholesterol, it contains a lot of vitamins and nutrients. The soil in its plant should be average to fertile, humus-rich, neutral to acidic and moist. Ferns require at least 1 to 2 inches of water every week. Never allow the soil to dry out. If the area is prone to drying out, consider using a thick mulch around the base of the plants. Bury a soaker hose on a timer under the mulch to keep the roots and soil constantly moist. If the soil is not wet enough, the leaves may scorch.
